US - 147 / 320850

So I finally got my fabric to start my new chart that I got custom charted by HAED.  I'm sure some of you have read that as a gift to my husband I decided to cross stitch a pic of us.

It is a old pic about 10 years old, and it got quite scratched up. But Michele from Haed did a fabulous job and was able to give me a beautiful chart to stitch.

I ordered some Zweigart Lugana from Sew and so.  And I finally got the fabric last night!

Here is a pic so you can get an idea what the gorgeous fabric looks like!

Fabric -25 Count Lugana Vintage Marble
Stitching - 1 over 1 Full Cross
Using Kreinik for the Sparklies

As you can see there is a lot of white involved around us, and as part of the 'halo' around us, Michele added just a special touch of sparklies.  After talking with a stitching buddy of mine (Michelle)  I decided to do the main part of the design first and then the Kreinik, and then save the white for last.

So that meant that I could skip to page 3!  I wanted to make sure I did everything properly instead of rushing myself in the excitement.  So I made myself do the edges and then I grided into the thrid page!  Well counted and double counted where the third page started!  And then I made my start!

I hope this weekend I will get more time to do some proper stitching on my special project!

Until the next Stitch,

Golden Promises - 9572 / 183050

I'm getting closer to spreading out throughout the page!

I am hoping to finish up with this pink color tonight, and maybe move on to the mext color also.  I just love adding detail color by color!

Until the next stitch!

Golden Promises - 8931 / 183050

Thanks to all who answered my question.  Its always interesting to see how others process things.   I worked on more background, for golden.  Hope to get some more time in the next couple of days, as I've been a little busy lately.

I really enjoy watching the page grow and connect with the previous page!  So exciting, I love when you put the stitching down and step back and actually see it come together, rather than the individual stitches or even the individual colors.  As you step back now you can see them blend together to create this beautiful thing!

Until the next stitch!

Golden Promises - More background!

Although I am really enjoying moving on to the second page of Golden, I'm not so keen on more background.  I really want to stitch some detail!  And come on!  How often do we say that!  Unfortunetly I am a stickler to following my own stitching 'rules'!  I will stitch in order in which the symbols appear on the page I am stitching.

When I am stitching a page next to the completed page on the right (like in the picture above) I find that I like to stitch the symbols in order down the first column.  I think that way I can join the two pages sooner.  If I am stitching the next page to the bottom of the comleted page I would follow the symbols across the first row, again to quickly join the bottom of the first page and the top of the next page!
I hope I haven't confused you too much!  I think I like to do this mainly to close the gap between pages, but also it takes the guess work out of it for me.  I dont' have to think about what symbol to do next!

I'm going to borrow Joyse's idea and ask you all a question.  How do you decide what symbol to stitch next?  Do you have a process or is it more random for you?

Until the next Stitch!

Golden Promises and IHSW results

More white!  I've been stitching lots of white this weekend to fill out my IHSW.

I took this opportunity of all this white to take advantage of my new lap frame and try two handed stitching!  I have to say its going well.  I never would have thought it would go this well. Although it could be said that I am sittching just in blocks and it is on 18 count.  But I am starting to get the hang of it, and hopefully in the future as I get more comfortable, it will speed me up!   I hope to have this page finished soon and onto the next one in the near future!

Happy Stitcing,

Forget Me Not & July IHSW

For the International Hermit and Stitch this month I will be working on Golden Promises.  But that doesn't start until Friday!

A little but of grey green color added to FMN. I hope I can get some more done next time.

I am really looking forward to the blue flower coming at the bottom of this page.  There is so much green in this chart!  It seems in all charts there is at least one color that has very big chunks in it.  I have ones with black pages, and ones with white pages!  You would think they would go faster than the confetti pages.  Sometimes they do, but more often, I find myself getting bored with the monotonous of it.  But I do like the end result it gives me.  On to more green....

edited to add:  I meant to answer mdgtjulie's comment about my Lapframe. I got it from sewandso.co.uk.  I love it and I would highly recommend it.  It made my stitching much more fun as its not straining my arm and shoulder and neck muscles straining to hold a frame along with the masses of extra fabric I deal with due to the fact that I can't stitch small projects!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 11426 / 34595

So I am finished with this round for Terra!  I am very happy with the amount that I got done!

Just a few stitches here and there and she's all filled up.  Next time I will get to work on her wing!  I love how her hair turned out.  Very pretty, I can almost see it blowing in the wind!

Until the next stitch,

QS Terra Fairy Sprite

So now that I am back in the swing of things, life is good!  I think its great when you need to step away from the stitching for what ever reason, and when you get back to it its like such a great feeling like rediscovering your love for this hobby!

I am happy to say that she is filling out nicely!  Her mouth is finally smiling! (Kind of) She is looking so pretty, I can't wait to finish her eye, that always adds so much to the expression.

Until the next Stitch.....

Forget me Not & Terra Fairy Sprite

So sorry I have been gone for so long.  I missed my blogging and my blogging friends.  I got caught up in this thing called life!  I had gotten so caught up in other stuff that my stitching took a back seat.  I finally stepped back into it last night cautiously.  Here are my efforts for the past two weeks, not up to my usual par...but still stitches were put in.  I had been working on Forget me not ...

And here is last nights effort on Terra...

I'm hoping this will get me back into it...

Until the next stitch...
