Back to the Land of Stitching!

So after a long period of stitchless stitches I picked up my needle.  Since my last post I hadn't really been stitching or blogging.  But I did do some, and here is what I did.

I put in some more work on my tiger...

He's starting to take shape.  And I also put some work in Love Blooms...

I think this is actually coming along!  Lots of hair to wade through!

I am currently working on QS Terra Fairy Sprite.  Then in a couple of days back to QS Siberian Forest.
Happy Stitching,

QS Terra Fairy Sprite 13889 / 34595

So I have a little update on my QS Terra Fairy Sprite.  I am really happy with the progress on this one!  The wings are starting to take shape nicely!

Here is what I had before this last stitching session:

Slowly but surely, progress...

I have decided that her place in my rotation will be every Friday.  I think a couple of more stitching sessions on this and I should get this row finished.  What you see now is the end of the row, but I am stitching Page 2 and 3 together as 3 is a partial page!  I can't wait to finish her!

At the end of the week I will be able to post a pic of my new start!  Can you guess what it is.  Shouldn't be hard,  I have added a picture of it to the side bar!!!  I will keep you in suspense (at least picture wise) until then!

Until the next Stitch!!!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 11926 / 34595

I am really enjoying working on my Terra!  She's coming along and I am getting to her wings now, which are turning out to be very colorful.

Here you can see the outline of her fairy wings starting to appear!

Now I'm getting to see all the lovely colors that are going into those beautiful wings!

What I really love about this is the gradual shift between colors.  It happens so you don't even notice.  One minute you are stitshing dark brown and the next bright orange.  And when you step back and take a look, it all fits together beautifully.  The way the different shades of the colors blend together is amazing!  Thats one of the reasons I love crossstitching so much.  Simply said its just one 'x' after another.  But when you step back you can see that put together those little x's have created something quite beautiful!

Until the next Stitch!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 11426 / 34595

So I am finished with this round for Terra!  I am very happy with the amount that I got done!

Just a few stitches here and there and she's all filled up.  Next time I will get to work on her wing!  I love how her hair turned out.  Very pretty, I can almost see it blowing in the wind!

Until the next stitch,

QS Terra Fairy Sprite & My New Lap Frame!

I did some work on the background last night. I'm excited to get at it again tonight!!!

I also wanted to show you my newly purchased Lap Frame.  I saw my fellow Blogger with one and she pointed me in the right direction!  Thanks to her! (Wired to My World)

I love it!!!!  Its so convienient.  I can stitch one handed!  No more strain on my left hand from holding the frame, its Fabulous!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite

So now that I am back in the swing of things, life is good!  I think its great when you need to step away from the stitching for what ever reason, and when you get back to it its like such a great feeling like rediscovering your love for this hobby!

I am happy to say that she is filling out nicely!  Her mouth is finally smiling! (Kind of) She is looking so pretty, I can't wait to finish her eye, that always adds so much to the expression.

Until the next Stitch.....

Forget me Not & Terra Fairy Sprite

So sorry I have been gone for so long.  I missed my blogging and my blogging friends.  I got caught up in this thing called life!  I had gotten so caught up in other stuff that my stitching took a back seat.  I finally stepped back into it last night cautiously.  Here are my efforts for the past two weeks, not up to my usual par...but still stitches were put in.  I had been working on Forget me not ...

And here is last nights effort on Terra...

I'm hoping this will get me back into it...

Until the next stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 10881 / 34595

I am so happy with my progress.  I kept at her face, or I should say the order in which I picked which symbol to stitch next meant I could work on her face for a bit!

I am really happy with how she is turning out!  Its amazing what a few stitches to her mouth can totally change her expression!  I am really looking forward to the rest of her face filling out!  This is what makes stitching so enjoyable,  just seeing all those individual stitches come together and make this beautiful face come alive!

Until the next stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 10410 / 34595

So these past few days, what little time I did have to stitch went towards working on Terra.  Life got in the way again!  Jeez my kids are so busy.  They have more things on the go than I do.  This week my daughter has her dance recital coming up.  Tomorrow actually, she's very excited to dance on the big stage!  So between her dress rehersals and my son's soccer games (he had four this weekend!)  I managed to get a little done,

I'm hoping her face will fill out soon.  I can see her ear peeking out, and I can't wait to fill in her mouth and she starts looking happy instead of sad.  I have been working on the endless white in Golden Promises whenever I need a break from confetti, but want to wait to post a picture until I finish the page.

Untill the next stitch....

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 9738 / 34595

So my May 12th post disappeared. (Yea!  Its back! Thank you Blogger!) Blogger said all will be back to normal, it is, except for my missing post.  I'm hoping it will magically reappear on its own, cause I really don't want to re post it! Maybe it all happened because today is Friday the 13th!  But any way on to today!  I finished all the black in her hair, it really filled out!  Looks great.  She's done for now.

Next up in my rotation is Forget Me Not. Its been awhile and I am really looking forward to picking her up!  I have relegated two charts to the status of UFO in order to make room to work on that new project, which I talked about yesterday.  If my post does not come back I will re post about that later when I am not so upset about it not being there any more!

Happy Stitching everyone!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 9395 / 34595

So Last nightI got to start on my fairy's hair!  I got all the dark brown done, next comes the black, which I hope to finish tonight.  She's really coming along!

Its interesting to see it all come together.

So....... I wanted to do something special for my husband of 11 years.  I found one of my favourite pictures of the two of us and I had Heaven And Earth Designs custom chart it for me.

This photo was taked ten years ago!!!
Michele did a fabulous job!!!  I won't show you the charted version but show you as I stitch it.  I am planning on stitching it on 25 count Lugana.  Charted into it was a lot of Kreinik.  I decided to to some test stitching to see how I liked to stitch with Kreinik.  I also had some Petite Treasure Braid that I test stitched with also.  I did a few stitches with each, and surrounded them with DMC 3865, which is what color will be most around them.

The left two are with Kreinik.  The right two are with PTB.  The top two are 1 over 1 full cross.  The bottom two are sparklies tented, rest 1 over 1 full cross.  What do you guys think?  I found the Kreinik to be alot thicker than the PTB.  I don't like the tent combined with the full crosses. Both were unravelling equally as much. But I think that I am leaning towards the PTB for look and coverage.  I think the Kreinik stitched up a little bulky.  I also think the Kreinik is more silverly and the PTB is subtler, which I like.  Looks like I will go with PTB.  What's your opinion?

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 8908 / 34595

More lovely greens.  I love how when you stitch them all together they totally blend together in a way that you wouldn't expect them to!   If you were to pull all the skeins of green that are in this background you would be like, well, they don't go together, and then you start stitching and its like huh!  they do!

You can start to see the outline of the second half of her face. She's looking a little lopsided to me!  I know that will change as I progress, I can't wait to get to her hair and those lovely wings of hers!!!

Until the next Stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 8306 / 34595

So I am happy to say I finally picked up my needle!!!  Didn't I tell you it would make me feel better.  Stitching has a way of relaxing me like nothing else!   I working on my Terra Fairy Sprite.  I really like working with the greens in this one.  I am also trying something different to see if it will help cut down on bulk.  I am working 5 columns across rather than the whole page as I cross country.  And usually I go symbol to symbol across the top row but this time I am going to go down.  I managed to finish two colors last night.  Not bad after not stitching for a while!  Can't wait to get back to her tonight!

I think this way also I will get to her face faster!  A happy coincidence!

Lou: I am so looking forward to seeing you stitch Ice wind.  I will stitch vicariously through you, as I will not participate!
Anojaa: So glad you found the BB, I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Until the next Stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 7840 / 34595

I am so happy to say that I have finished the first page on my fairy sprite!!!!  I am really happy with the result, as with any stitching she looks great when all the stitches get put together, and you take a step back to appreciate what you have done.  I am always apprehensive with the amount of black that goes in some of my stitching, but again after I step back and look at the piece properly I realise that the black is there for a reason.  Even though it can be tedious to stitch unending black, (I've come to strongly dislike the number 310) I realise that the reason for the most part that its there is to highlight and complement the surrounding colors.  So I will stitch the 310 with minimal complaints!

Here she is,

I think she looks gorgeous, sad but gorgeous. Its funny when I look at the picture of the finished chart she looks so happy and sweet, but with just half her face, and her smile not quite there yet, she looks very forlorn.  Its amazing that the same picture will look so different page by page.

Until the next stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite 6711 / 34595

So finally Photobucket is co-operating, not totally, still having some issues.  Some of my past post links weren't working so I had to try and work around that and re link some photos.  But not going to vent about that! I am going to talk about how I am very close to finishing this first page!!!!

First I will show what I had finished the last time, what I couldn't show you in my last post:

6360 / 34595

Then when I picked her up last night I was determined to finish all the confetti and missed stitches on the page!!  So I am happy to say that I did that, and not only that I finished her face, so all I have to do now is the black!

6711 / 34595

As I get close to the page finish I get more and more excited!  It really motivates me to hurry it up already!!! I will say though some parts in her face were hard to stitch.  In the sense that since I cross country stitch, the threads that I carry in the back were building up because around the edge of her face and in her neck there is a lot of confetti.  I am thinking changing my sttitching a little for the next time.  Instead of carrying threads all over the page, I am thinking of trying to work in columns.  I thought to still do cross country but in smaller sections.  One or two columns at a time.  Its something to think about, I really had a hard time getting the needle through in some spots that were confetti heavy.

Until next time...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 6360 / 34595

So I am actually making some nice progress towards finishing this first page on Terra.  Unfortunetly I am not able to show you yet because Photobucket is under maintence.  Rather than tell you how frustrated I am about that I am going to talk about my stitching!  Which is a much better topic.

I have been steadily working on the confetti, I probably have just a handful of confetti colours left.  My goal is to finish this page in the next two days.  After the confetti I just have two colours of stitching in big sections.  Thats 310 and another colour that will stitch most of her face that is on this page.  I've given myself the target to finish in two days, hope I can make it.  As this weekend is going to be very busy getting ready for my sons birthday party I have picked a fairly easy (stitching wise) chart to work on, I will be working on my SK Sunny that I started as part of the HAED BB 2010 July - December Sal.

Happy Stitching

QS Terra fairy Sprite - 6029 / 34595

So over the last two days I got just a little done.  I tried my hand at stitching two handed with a floor stand.  It wasn't bad, my left hand, the non-dominant one needs a lot of practice.  They say that you can stitch faster with two hands.  I don't know,  I was too impatient to wait for my left hand to work properly.  After reading on the BB about floor stands and the like, I thought to give it a go.  Many were stitching with their dominant hand under and other over.  For me that would mean right under and left over.  I think with a little practice it could be something I could do in the future.  But right now, I couldn't get over the part where I could see where I wanted my left hand to put the needle but my hand was just not co-operating.  Also my floor stand isn't the greatest, its a little wobbly, and doesn't have the proper clamp to use for a Q-snap. I tried stitching with a roller frame but just couldn't get the hang of it!  It wouldn't roll right for me, and if its not rolling right that meant that it wasnt' taut enough for me to stitch.  So maybe in the future I may invest in a better lap stand or floor stand with the proper clamps for the Q-snap and give two handed stitching a go.  Right now I didn't see much improvement in the speed of my stitching, I know I should give it more than one night, but really, I am way too impatient!  If I can find a rotating Q-snap clamp I may give it another go.  But for now, back to the comfortable for me!

Her hair is almost done, and I should soon get to her face.

The photo isn't as clear as I would like it, I had to scan it instead of take a picture this time,  I left my camera at a friends house.  Hope to have it back soon.  I'm loving the highlights in her hair!
