Animal Babies - Hedgehog Day 7 & 8

Everything is coming together!  The yellow flowers are done, now just the baby and the blue flowers. Oh and the backstitching!

Animal Babies - Hedgehog Day 6

I am really happy with the way this one progressing.  I am however not happy with my camera, which didn't save some of my photos!  So even though I had added many more colors, I only have two pictures to show!

 

 I love how just that little bit of green makes such a difference!  The flowers on the left are done except for the back stitching.  And the flowers on the right are done except for back stitching and the centers!

I finally got back to the flowers!  I forgot to take a picture after the first color for day 5, so this first picture has actually two colors of orangey yellow colors added.  

I think the colors a re a nice match for the little one!

The little one is done!....Sort of...At least his body anyway!

I'm hoping that now that the relatively hard part is done the rest will go fairly quickly!  I'm looking forward to colors other than shades of beige!

It is filling in quite nicely!  Also looking forward to seeing how the flowers will look!

Animal Babies - Hedgehog Day 2

Hey all!  This little hedgehog sure is filled with tons of confetti in just a small area!  Lots of different browns!

Already so cute!  The brown confetti is a headache, especially if I find I've missed a stitch!  But I think it's worth it!

I can't wait to get to her chubby little legs!  And I am looking forward to the colorful flowers to come!

November IHSW & Animal Babies - Hedgehog Day 1

I am happy to say that I actually got a chance to do some hermitting!  As you can see from my previous post during my Hermit weekend I finished my Caterpillar Baby!

And then I also had a chance to start Baby Hedgehog!

Believe it or not that's three different shades of yellow.  This time I am going to take a photo after each color is added.  I liked how that was documented last time.

Animal Babies - Caterpillar Day 9 & 10

Thats it!  He's finished!!!!  He is so adorable!  the backstitching wasn't that bad, but I still would rather not do it!  Where I did have a problem was with some frogging I had to do. I had trouble centering his name at the bottom.  But after much frogging and going back and forth I got it!

Animal Babies - Caterpillar Day 8 - And IHSW

Hi all, I just have one more color to stitch and he's done.  And of course the back stitch, after much consideration and listening to my fellow stitchers I realised that I was panicking for no reason.  In actual fact the back stitch is just for the little Caterpillar.  I just haven't done much backstitching, so it always seemed daunting to me!  We'll see how it goes!  And this weekend is IHSW (Check out the link on the side bar) so I hope to have this one finished and start the Hedgehog for IHSW.  I was trying to decide between Hedgehog and Peacock, but one of my followers suggested that I keep the colorful one for last!  And I quite agree!  So this weekend Hedgehog it is!

Day 8

Not bad for 8 days!  I never thought it would be like this!  Maybe I will give that baby afgan a thought!

Animal Babies - Caterpillar Day 7

Nearly there!  The flowers are filling out nicely!  I love the color blue!  It really stands out next to all that green!  The shading in the flowers is great, I wasn't expecting such subtle color changes, and when I step back from the piece the result is fantastic!

He's really filling out, and the leaves are looking good, I think the flowers are next!  And then the backstitching of course!

I am very happy with the look of the leaves!  Its amazing how much detail a few stitches can make!

Animal Babies - Caterpillar Day 4

It was a long weekend, but not as much stitching as I would like.  I hope the next few days are better, I think a few solid days should be good to make some good progress on the little guy!  Thank you so much for all your comments, they really motivate me to keep stitching!!!

I thought to fill in the leafs surrounding him.  I may go back to him soon, I am dreading the back stitching involved.  For those of you who have done a EMS design, how bad is the back stitching?

Animal Babies - Caterpillar

Hello all! 

So my best friend just gave birth to her third child and I have always been meaning to stitch her something, so I finally came up with the nerve to do it.  And I thought what the heck, the other ones are little enough (3 and 1) I might as well make something for them too.  They can always keep it in their rooms.  So I decided to pick a Animal Baby pattern from Ellen Maurer-Stroh's collection.  The first one I picked to stitch is the Caterpillar Baby.

I made a start with him, I am calling it him, cause the baby its for is a him!!!  I will add his name on the bottom after finishing. 

This time I thought it would be cool to take a picture after adding each color to the chart.  So far last night I finished three colors..So here they are...





They are being stitched on 18ct white aida!
