Shore Line Village - 43706 / 161550

So next up in my rotation is Shore Line Village.  I am working on page7! I still can't believe that.  As soon as I put the first stitch in for that page I was hooked! I remembered why I loved stitching on this chart.  I find sometimes when a chart has so many pages, and some are of endless sky, I need a break to remind my self of why I bought the chart and why I love working on it!  Thats' what happend here.  I was initially worried that I would hate working on 25 count again as most of my other projects are on 22 ct and 18 count, but for some reason I find working on Shore Line to be no problem at all.   I sometimes wonder if its a good idea to be working on so many charts, but really I love all of them and love the variety that rotation gives me.
I hope to have more to show next time!

Now that I see what I have stitched in relation to the finished piece I do believe that the few green stitches that I have put in are the bushes lining the walkway!  How exiting!!

Until the next stitch...

SK Winter Wings - 1379 / 25116

I did a few stitches last night for the second night in my winter SAL.  As I was stitching I was thinking oh, another blue, oh another grey!  And then I looked at the chart again and thought doh!  The whole thing is going to be these colors!  I hope it soon comes together, but I won't get to it again till next month.  But heres my canvas of blue and grey stitches that look like absolutely nothing!

SK Winter Wings - 1089 / 25116

Over this long weekend I  didn't do a whole lot of stitching!  We went out of town and I didn't bring my stitching, so I had a very lazy weekend.  But when we came back on Sunday I got a few stitches in.  On every 24th and 25th of the month I stitch a winter/christmas themed chart as part of a sal on the BB.  The chart I work on every month is SK Winter Wings by Nene Thomas.  I had already in the past worked on her some before picking her up last night, so I just picked up from there,  I have completed a little over 1000 stitches!

I really can't make anything out.  That may be her face in the upper left corner, but its really too close to the edge to be her face, so I will just have to wait patiently for her to appear!

SK Sunny - 9726 / 21370

So yesterday I had a headache all day and by the time I got home and got the kids in bed and would have normally begun my stitching, I was drained, my head felt a little heavy, so all I could manage was a few stitches just to say hey, I did stitch today!  Then I went to bed!  Tonight should be better!
So not much to see, but just a little around the edges in her face and down her arm.

Until the next stitch!

SK Sunny - 9646 / 21370

I really like working with all these bright colours after doing a lot of 310.   Here she is with some colour in her hair!

And here is a close up

I love how its turning out!  I can start to make out her top now, and the shoulder and where her arm is going to be!  Very exciting!

Until the next stitch...

SK Sunny - 8844 / 21370

So I have made an official decision:  Parking is not for me.  I can not, will not, try again! Goodbye Parking Headaches!!!  So as you can tell I have given up on the idea of parking.  I spent most of last night finishing off the threads that I had left hanging.  I am working my way through 310 now.  Seems like almost all my current projects have alot of 310!  I didn't get a chance to take a picture last night, but will get one up before I start stitching on it tonight.

Here she is:
Sorry the photo is so dark!  Poor lighting!

SK Sunny - 8480 / 21370

So after working on Sunny for the weekend I didn't get much done.  Here is my International Hermit and Stitch weekend progress picture.  I tried to be a hermit, but it was hard, I had my sons birthday party this week end.  Although, I am happy with what I have done so far.

So I have been playing to find a stitching style that will work better for me.  I've been having trouble with my stitching being too dense in heavy confetti areas.  In the past I have tried to park.  For me parking is fine for large block sections, the stitches lay very neatly, but as soon as I got to some confetti spots, I would start to get confused, and my hanging threads started to look ragged, and I hated having all those threads hanging.  But I thought I would give it another shot. Previously I had tried parking but, all the way across the page.  This time I tried it just down a column.  Just seeing those threads hanging drove me, so after awhile I started picking up those threads and stitched those colors three columns across.  Once I've gotten rid of those hanging threads, I'm wondering if I should give parking one more shot and this time trying a ten square block at a time.  I don't know.  I will give it one more shot, and then I'll see if once and for all if Parking is for me or not.  I have been trying to adjust my tension as well, hoping that will help with the confetti heavy areas as well.  Anyways...

Until the next stitch...

April International Hermit and Stitch Weekend

So I recently joined a group of stitchers around the world who stitch every third week of the month together.  They call it the International Hermit and Stitch weekend. Meaning you turn yourself into a hermit for the weekend, how ever long you can manage and just stitch!  I thought that sounded like lots of fun!!!!
So I will be working on Sunny this weekend.

Here is my Before

Until the next stitch...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 7840 / 34595

I am so happy to say that I have finished the first page on my fairy sprite!!!!  I am really happy with the result, as with any stitching she looks great when all the stitches get put together, and you take a step back to appreciate what you have done.  I am always apprehensive with the amount of black that goes in some of my stitching, but again after I step back and look at the piece properly I realise that the black is there for a reason.  Even though it can be tedious to stitch unending black, (I've come to strongly dislike the number 310) I realise that the reason for the most part that its there is to highlight and complement the surrounding colors.  So I will stitch the 310 with minimal complaints!

Here she is,

I think she looks gorgeous, sad but gorgeous. Its funny when I look at the picture of the finished chart she looks so happy and sweet, but with just half her face, and her smile not quite there yet, she looks very forlorn.  Its amazing that the same picture will look so different page by page.

QS Terra Fairy Sprite 6711 / 34595

So finally Photobucket is co-operating, not totally, still having some issues.  Some of my past post links weren't working so I had to try and work around that and re link some photos.  But not going to vent about that! I am going to talk about how I am very close to finishing this first page!!!!

First I will show what I had finished the last time, what I couldn't show you in my last post:

6360 / 34595

Then when I picked her up last night I was determined to finish all the confetti and missed stitches on the page!!  So I am happy to say that I did that, and not only that I finished her face, so all I have to do now is the black!

6711 / 34595

As I get close to the page finish I get more and more excited!  It really motivates me to hurry it up already!!! I will say though some parts in her face were hard to stitch.  In the sense that since I cross country stitch, the threads that I carry in the back were building up because around the edge of her face and in her neck there is a lot of confetti.  I am thinking changing my sttitching a little for the next time.  Instead of carrying threads all over the page, I am thinking of trying to work in columns.  I thought to still do cross country but in smaller sections.  One or two columns at a time.  Its something to think about, I really had a hard time getting the needle through in some spots that were confetti heavy.

Until next time...

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 6360 / 34595

So I am actually making some nice progress towards finishing this first page on Terra.  Unfortunetly I am not able to show you yet because Photobucket is under maintence.  Rather than tell you how frustrated I am about that I am going to talk about my stitching!  Which is a much better topic.

I have been steadily working on the confetti, I probably have just a handful of confetti colours left.  My goal is to finish this page in the next two days.  After the confetti I just have two colours of stitching in big sections.  Thats 310 and another colour that will stitch most of her face that is on this page.  I've given myself the target to finish in two days, hope I can make it.  As this weekend is going to be very busy getting ready for my sons birthday party I have picked a fairly easy (stitching wise) chart to work on, I will be working on my SK Sunny that I started as part of the HAED BB 2010 July - December Sal.

Happy Stitching

QS Terra fairy Sprite - 6029 / 34595

So over the last two days I got just a little done.  I tried my hand at stitching two handed with a floor stand.  It wasn't bad, my left hand, the non-dominant one needs a lot of practice.  They say that you can stitch faster with two hands.  I don't know,  I was too impatient to wait for my left hand to work properly.  After reading on the BB about floor stands and the like, I thought to give it a go.  Many were stitching with their dominant hand under and other over.  For me that would mean right under and left over.  I think with a little practice it could be something I could do in the future.  But right now, I couldn't get over the part where I could see where I wanted my left hand to put the needle but my hand was just not co-operating.  Also my floor stand isn't the greatest, its a little wobbly, and doesn't have the proper clamp to use for a Q-snap. I tried stitching with a roller frame but just couldn't get the hang of it!  It wouldn't roll right for me, and if its not rolling right that meant that it wasnt' taut enough for me to stitch.  So maybe in the future I may invest in a better lap stand or floor stand with the proper clamps for the Q-snap and give two handed stitching a go.  Right now I didn't see much improvement in the speed of my stitching, I know I should give it more than one night, but really, I am way too impatient!  If I can find a rotating Q-snap clamp I may give it another go.  But for now, back to the comfortable for me!

Her hair is almost done, and I should soon get to her face.

The photo isn't as clear as I would like it, I had to scan it instead of take a picture this time,  I left my camera at a friends house.  Hope to have it back soon.  I'm loving the highlights in her hair!

QS Terra fairy Sprite - 5660 / 34595

So I managed to get a bit done on her.  I am saving the black for last, hoping to finish all the rest of the colours first.  That way I dont have to think to hard while stitching the black.  It can get tedious sometimes, this way I just have to fill in all the blanks.

I can't wait for her face to start filling out!  And I think thats some sort of earring in her ear, but I could be wrong!  I am hoping to have this page finished in the next few days.  Now I have to decide what to work on next!!!

Finishes before 2010

I have two finishes that I have completed before 2010.  From 2008 is when I really got back in to Cross Stitching, and have not really stopped since.  I may not have a lot of finishes but I have a lot of passion and love for every piece that I work on.  Here are to of my past finishes.

The first is a HotWheels Monster Truck that I did for my son.

My next Finish I think was the following year for a friend how loves Tinkerbell.

After that I found Heaven And Earth Designs, and started collecting more and more charts, and less finishes!  I dont' mind, I love each and every chart I own!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite - 4931 / 34595

So Last night I didn't get as much as I would have liked to get done.  I fell asleep with my daughter.  I seem to have a habit of doing that.  My body must be telling me I'm tired.  But really, if I can help it do I want to sleep or stitch!  Stitch of course!  So anyway, I seem to make a habit of stitching late one night then falling asleep the next!  As you can see I have added the stitch count of this chart.  The total stitch count is 34595, I have so far completed 4931, that's about half a page.  So I do have a little (very little) progress to show today:

I think I am really liking how she is shaping up!  I can see her ear popping out and I do believe that I also see her lips!  I love when all the details start showing up.

So seeing as how I had very little progress to show I thought I would take this opportunity to show where I am with all my other WIPs!  And there are a lot!  I am going to give each of them their own post!

QS Terra Fairy Sprite

Hi!  I am currently stitching a HAED chart - QS Terra Fairy Sprite.  I started her as part of the Freebie Sal on the HAED Bullitin Board, which I joined back in December of 2010.  I am currently on her very first page. I started her in January but only worked on her for three days.  Here is what she will look like once completed.

Before I picked it up this week here is what I had done.

And here is what I have done as of last night.

As you can see I like to do Cross Country stitching.  I am stitching her on 22 count Aida, 2 over 1 full cross.  I have been working on her for a total of about 8 days.  I dont have the stitch count with me but will write that in my next post.  I like to work color by color, and hopefully will be able to post a picture of my work after each night of stitching, kind of like a picture diary!  Since I work in cross country and one color at a time, its kind of like coloring by numbers!

My First Post!

Hello there!  I am very new to the world of blogging.  I am not that computer savvy so you will have to bare with me.

I love to Cross Stitch!  I have been doing so on and off since I was young, but most recently  in the past few years I have picked it up again and it has become a passion of mine!  I used to work from just kits and simple charts that I came across randomly.  Then by some fluke I came across Heaven and Earth Designs, and I fell in love.  And I haven't turned back since!!!!

I currently have many work in progresses (WIPs) and  many more waiting in the wings!  I am not a slow stitcher, but by no means am I a fast stitcher! I go at my own pace, and hope for the best.  I am hoping that writing a blog will help me keep track of my stitching and also motivate me.

Over the course of the next few days I will introduce you to my world of Cross Stitching, past, present and future!
